The existing EU Biocidal Products Regulation (EU BPR) has been copied into GB law. The new regime – the GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR) came into force at 11pm on 31 December 2020.

Geosil50’s rigorous testing met the stringent criteria of the European Chemical Association standards. UKAS laboratory accredited analysis shows that Geosil50 is effective in eradicating Legionella from infected hot & cold water systems.

Our clients have peace of mind knowing that they are using a product which meets the highest standards of compliance. The unique combination of GB BPR approval, UKAS laboratory supported Method Statement and secure supply means that Geosil is now the biocide of choice in this market.

The active ingredient in Geosil50 is hydrogen peroxide, which kills bacteria and viruses by a process of oxidation. The peroxide dissociates to form Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) which are O2, H2O2 and OH. The ROS damages the DNA and enzymes of the bacteria, rendering them inactive.

The ionic silver in Geosil50 stabilises the hydrogen peroxide and dramatically extends its shelf life.

We provide clear instructions for use. We also provide comprehensive training.

Geosil50 eradicates Legionella in cold water storage tanks, and associated down-services. It can be used in many different contexts, including:

  • Hospitals
  • Care & Nursing Homes
  • Calorifiers & other hot water generation plant
  • Water disinfection in Agri-business, especially as an aid to Bio-Security in chicken farming
Geosil50 has no colour or odour and no residual taint or taste. There are no chlorinated by products. As no mixing of additional chemicals is required, human interaction with the product is minimal, and is the potential for human error is reduced. This helps protect the health and safety of staff.
As working with any chemicals, appropriate safety precautions should be taken, including wearing protective gloves and eye protection.

The process of using Geosil50 is straightforward and full training and instructions are provided.  The dosing chart provided allows you to calculate the volume of Geosil50 required for the disinfection of the water distribution system.

The tank should be half full of fresh mains water before Geosil50 is added and mixed well in the tank. The system can now be flushed to bring Geosil50 into contact with all of the pipework surfaces and outlets. After the appropriate contact time between the water system and Geosil50, the system should be flushed again.
